Everyone experiences trauma. It is an inescapable part of being human. Pain is expected, but suffering is avoidable.  Recognizing that our traumas have helped shape who we have become, is a first step in determining how we choose to live right now.  A new psychological concept called post-traumatic growth studies how people view traumatic experiences. It shifts us from victimhood to curator.

  • connect to your past and not live in it

  • see past experiences as opportunities for growth and expansion

  • express feelings and share fears in a healthy way

  • learn how to process trauma and release limiting beliefs and thought patterns

  • move through pain to alleviate long-term suffering

SELF SABOTAGE

Perfectionism, Procrastination, and People Pleasing 

At the root of self-sabotage is fear and is a result of past traumas that live in our subconscious minds. Self sabotaging behaviours are a form of self protection in order to avoid risk and stress. These behaviours are meant to buffer our feelings so we stay safe and comfortable.

Do you resonate with perfectionism, procrastination or people pleasing?      

Do you use food, exercise, stimulants or work to buffer how you feel?

Do you feel that other people take you for granted?

Is your inner teacher guiding you to…

  • explore what you gain from these behaviours and what might be causing more stress, fear and anxiety

  • release false stories about yourself 

  • increase awareness around why you might be buffering or what  you are protecting

  • become curious about what emotions you aren’t comfortable feeling

  • reduce your workload and release expectations of how things ‘should’ be

SELF LOVE

Self Compassion, Self Awareness, Self Worth and Self Care

It sounds super cheesy, right? Just learn to love yourself and everything will be fine! If only it was that simple. We spend a lot of time talking about cultivating better relationships in our society but what about the relationship with yourself?  Building a stronger relationship with yourself is a central component to realigning with your goals, intuition, passions and boundaries. 

Are you constantly searching for answers outside of yourself?

Do you treat the opinions of external authority figures as gospel?

Does your inner critic dominate your internal self-talk?

Are you holding back from expressing your true thoughts?

Is your inner teacher guiding you to…

  • spend more time reflecting on your goals and dreams and consciously create a future that aligns with them

  • prioritize your needs and desires and keep commitments to yourself and others

  • create manageable and achievable expectations

  • explore a variety of self-care routines and practices that can help you become your own healer

FEMININE ENERGY

Energy is everywhere and everything.  We can’t place a value judgment on how we choose to express energy or about how we feel. Feminine energy is non-linear in nature and is all about acceptance, collaboration, creativity, flow, surrender and intuition. Women’s voices and choices have been suppressed for thousands of years and feminine energy has been seen as weak, mysterious and devalued. It is time for us to re-align with our feminine energy to rejuvenate, nourish and receive.

When you make decisions, do you check in with your gut as a first response? If so, do you trust it?

Do you find it challenging to be on the receiving end of a conversation, gift exchange or compliment?

Is it difficult to set boundaries between being a woman and being an educator?

Do you want to cultivate a deeper connection with your intuition?

CONNECTION TO OUR PURPOSE

The last pillar is all about how we see ourselves in relation to our purpose. Our purpose is multi-faceted and not necessarily connected to a career. Maybe you are here to learn to not allow fear to drive the bus. Maybe you are here to learn to be a role model for others and share your wisdom. Maybe you are here to nurture a passion and bring it to fruition for others to benefit from.

Everyone of us has a story to tell. Every one of us has trauma we have kept to ourselves. Can you take some time to demonstrate self compassion? Can you take some time to reflect about how you have grown and what you have learned?
